Croatia's exports down, imports up

ZAGREB, March 30 (Hina) - Croatia's exports in the first two months of 2012 amounted to HRK 9.9 billion, a decline of 6% in relation to the corresponding period of last year, while imports increased by 4.5% to HRK 17.5 billion, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Friday.

The trade deficit was HRK 7.6 billion, up 22.5% year on year, and the coverage of imports by exports was 56.7%.

Viewed in euros, exports totalled EUR 1.3 billion, down 8% over the same period of 2011, while imports went up by 2.3% to EUR 2.3 billion. The trade gap rose by 19.8% to EUR 1 billion.
