ZAGREB, Nov 25 (Hina) - The Presidential Council for Defence and
National Security held a meeting under the chairmanship of President
Franjo Tudjman on Thursday.
The Council was informed of a proposal by the Ministerial Council of
the European Union for the Geneva conference.
Croatia supports the European Union's plan as its main goals are
cessation of the war, establishment of peace and resumption of
negotiations.
As for Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Council supports all efforts directed at
continuation of the Geneva talks and greater efficiency of humanitarian
operations.
The Council concluded that most European Union's proposals concerning
the UN Protected Areas in Croatia corresponded with the Croatian
President's peace initiative.
The Council was informed of a cease-fire agreement, and supported
measures aimed at bringing about peace.
The meeting also reviewed the text of the Decision and Annex to the
"Principles of Military Stability in South-East Europe," drawn up for a
meeting of CSCE foreign ministers in Rome. The Council agreed with the
text and expressed confidence that the conclusion of a regional
agreement on security and arms control and the consistent implementation
of those Principles would ensure peace and stability in the region, said
a statement released by the Office of the Croatian President.
