MEETING OF CROATIAN PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION WITH POLITICAL PARTI

PARTI $ ES AT EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT STRASBOURG, Nov 18 (Hina) - The Croatian parliamentary delegation, led by Chairman Stjepan Mesic, held a meeting with representatives of the four strongest political parties at the European Parliament. European Liberal and Democrat Reformists talked with the Croatian delegation about the establishment of war tribunal as well as about the impact of the press on political decisions and public views. Asked by Mrs. Dabcevic-Kucar, a member of the Croatian delegation, about the standpoint of the European Liberals concerning possible lifting of sanctions against the so-called Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Ms. Von Alemann, the deputy chairman of the Liberals, said that this political group was opposing to the lifting of the sanctions. The Croatian delegation was asked by Mr. Howell, a member of the English Conservative Party, what Croatia was expecting from the West. Dr. Domljan, Deputy Chairman of the Croatian Parliament, said that the economic sanctions were the most effective means of the West, so that they should remain until Belgrade gave up from establishing Greater Serbia. Serbia proper had to recognize the states established on the area of the former Yugoslavia in their internationally recognized borders, emphasized Mr. Domljan. The West should help Croatia in its economic recovery and support the reintegration of UNPAs, added Deputy Chairman of the Croatian Parliament. Deputy Chairman of the European Parliament Sir Jack Clark said that Croatia could not be included into the programme of PHARE as long as there were reports that the Bosnian Croats were committing atrocities and holding up humanitarian convoys. During their talks with a group of the Greens at the European Parliament Mrs. Dabcevic-Kucar pointed out that the Croatian National Party (HNS) was the firs party to make the programme about "the Green Croatia", and she emphasized that many Croatian natural resources were destroyed in the aggression against Croatia. The Croatian delegation held also a meeting with the Socialist group at the European Parliament today. European Socialists said that no one believed that Bosnia-Herzegovina could become a kind of unitarian state, and therefore a compromise should be reached in order to stop the war. According to them, after a cessation of hostilities a final solution to that conflict could be searched for. European Socialists warned that the Croatia was losing credit with the West recently because of acts of the Bosnian Croats. Socialists also said that Croatia should be more open and constructive toward minorities and regional autonomies. 182005 MET nov 93
