ZAGREB, Nov 11 (Hina) - Croatian Minister of the Interior Ivan Jarnjak met
on Thursday with the UNPROFOR Commander in the former Yugoslavia, General
Jean Cot, and the Chief of Civil Affairs, Cedric Thornberry. The talks
centred on the mounting tension in Sector West.
General Cot said he believed that today's meeting would help ease the
tension.
Minister Jarnjak told reporters that they analyzed the overall situation
in Sector West this year. Croatian officials asked General Cot and the
UNPROFOR Commander in Sector West, General Kamal Shabsough of Jordan, who
was also present, to make maximum effort in order to prevent further
terrorist actions in the area, and to ensure road and railway traffic, said
Minister Jarnjak.
Minister Jarnjak stressed that in line with the President Tudjman's peace
initiative Croatia was ready to continue talks on opening the Zagreb-
Slavonski Brod motorway and other roads, and on solving all other issues
not only in Sector West but in entire Croatia.
Minister Jarnjak announced that in a few days he would visit Sector West.
