ZAGREB, Nov 11 (Hina) - The United Nations Force Commander in the former
Yugoslavia, General Jean Cot, told a news conference in Zagreb on Thursday
that the time had come for the use of force in order to ensure the
unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
The French General said that UNPROFOR could use the force at a local level
but that for a large-scale operation it would need additional forces.
General Cot recalled the recent kidnap of two officials of the Sarajevo
Police Department from a UN vehicle. "If the UN commander in Sarajevo could
send reinforcements to surround the Serb tanks and soldiers who kidnapped
the people, we would have thwarted their plans," he said.
