ZAGREB, Nov 16 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman today
received the Co-Chairmen of the Geneva Conference steering
committee, Lord David Owen and Thorvald Stoltenberg, US Ambassador
Peter Galbraith, Russian Ambassador Leonid Kerestedjiantz and EU
Ambassadors Gert Ahrens and Kai Eide, a Presidential Office
statement said.
Tudjman was given proposals on the continuation of talks
towards an agreement between the Croatian government and Serb
representatives from occupied Croatian territories.
A draft agreement, conceived in the spirit of UN Security
Council resolutions, would be released later today, Owen said.
Owen added that chief Serb negotiator Borislav Mikelic would
be given a copy of the draft in Belgrade, the statement said.
Galbraith said after the meeting the United States was active
in the so-called Z-4 process from its beginning which had evolved
from a cease-fire as the first stage.
We regard economic talks as the second stage. This is a
three-stage process aimed at reintegrating the UNPAs into Croatia,
in the context of UN Security Council decisions and the Vance plan,
Galbraith said.
The Croatian side was represented by: the head of the
Presidential Office and chief negotiator with with local Serb
authorities, Hrvoje Sarinic; the head of the Presidential Military
Cabinet, Lt. Gen. Zvonimir Cervenko; Foreign Policy Adviser Zeljko
Matic; and Internal Policy Adviser Ivic Pasalic.
