SARAJEVO, Aug 5 (Hina) - A humanitarian airlift into Sarajevo that
resumed this morning after two-weak suspension, has to be again
suspended owing to deterioration of the situation in the Sarajevo
greater area caused by Serbs' snatching back heavy arms from a
U.N.-guarded weapons collection depot in the Sarajevo suburb of
Ilidza on early Friday morning.
A spokesman for the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees
(UNHCR), Peter Kessler, said today in Sarajevo that only one French
aircraft with food supplies had managed to land at the airport of
the Bosnian capital on Friday morning.
UNHCR estimates that Sarajevo has at the moment food supplies
sufficient only for seven days, while Serb forces are keeping their
stranglehold on the vital supply route into Sarajevo.
