REFUGEES WRITE TO AKASHI, MORE PROTESTS ANNOUNCED

SISAK/OSIJEK, July 8 (Hina) - Head of the Association of Refugees of Sisak County Bozo Judas sent a letter on behalf of 40,500 refugees to UN special envoy Yasushi Akashi to draw his attention to statements by UNPROFOR officials, who said they were concerned about nation-wide refugee protests against UNPROFOR's inefficiency. Judas wrote that Akashi was not concerned about the fact that UNPROFOR had not implemented the Vance Plan and Security Council resolutions but that he was concerned how to deliver petrol and oil supplies and other necessities to Serb rebels in occupied territories. He asked Akashi to answer how many Croats and other non-Serbs UNPROFOR had returned to their homes during its mandate. "War criminals like Milosevic, Karadzic, Martic, Mikelic (...) you call excellencies, and we, the greatest victims of war, are nothing but demonstrators for you," the letter said. Representatives of refugees in the Osijek area told a press conference in Osijek today that they continued blocking UN check- points and that no incidents were recorded. Refugees also announced that tomorrow they would block UN check-points at Zemunik Donji and Jasenice in Zadar County and the one at Potravlje in Split County, while refugees in Zagreb said they would impose a blockade on UNPROFOR Headquarters in Selska Street in Zagreb next week. 081730 MET jul 94
