U.S. CONGRESS DELEGATION VISITS KARLOVAC AND TURANJ

KARLOVAC, July 5 (Hina) - A U.S. Congress delegation and U.S. Ambassador to Croatia, Peter Galbraith, visited today Karlovac (some 50 km S. of Zagreb) and its suburb of Turanj as well as the refugee centre of Gaza. Congressman from the state of Illinois, Howard Berman, the head of the delegation, said that war-stricken Turanj could show how large war damage had been caused to Croatia. The delegation, escorted by U.N. Protection Force (UNPROFOR), arrived in Turanj and met displaced persons who had been protesting against UNPROFOR's inefficacy since last Saturday by hindering free movement of all UNPRFOR vehicles. They talked with the protestors who blocked all accesses to the city for the UNPROFOR vehicles. Afterwards the U.S. congressmen visited the refugee centre of Gaza in the Karlovac suburb. 052036 MET jul 94
