WASHINGTON, July 1 (Hina) - Croatian Deputy Prime Minister, Dr.
Ivica Kostovic, held talks with Congressman, Howard Berman on
Thursday in U.S. Congress in Washington. Mr. Berman is the head of
the Congress subcommittee on international operations. During the
meeting Minister Kostovic informed Congressman Berman of the
Croatian Government's views on the mandate of U.N. Protection Force
(UNPROFOR) and reintegration of the occupied areas of Croatia, now
UNPAs.
Minister Kostovic informed the Congress committee on
humanitarian issues of the humanitarian situation, refugees and
displaced persons in Croatia. Congressmen showed a particular
interest in Croatia's standpoints on settlements to the crisis in
Bosnia-Herzegovina and the future of UNPROFOR in Croatia.
On that occasion Croatian Minister Kostovic emphasized that a
political solution to the Bosnian crisis could not be solved unless
the international community resolutely assists in the reintegration
of UNPAs into Croatia's legal and constitutional system at the same
time.
