TURANJ'S MEETING OF CENTRAL COMMISSION ON IMPLEMENATION 29 MARCH C

C $ EASE-FIRE ACCORD KARLOVAC, June 6 (Hina) - In the Karlovac suburb of Turanj (some 50 km S. of the Croatian capital) a session was held today by members of the central commission on the implementation of the 29 March cease-fire agreement between the Croatian Government and the Serb rebels. The Croatian side was led by Miroslav Separovic, while the Serb rebels' delegation was led by the Brigadier, Bosko Poznanovic. The session was also attended by a representative of the U.N. Protection Force (UNPROFOR), Major General John MacInnis. After the several-hour-long talks, General MacInnis said that a step forward had been done in the implementation of the first stage of the 29 March Agreement referring to the pull-out of the weapons and troops to the proscribed distances. He hoped that negotiations on the economic and political issues would be soon discussed as well. The Croatian representative, M. Separovic, said that UNPROFOR assessed that the Croatian side had already carried out the agreement, while the Serb side had not yet withdrawn all heavy weaponry from some locations. Asked whether they had discussed cases of arresting civilians when passing disengagement lines and the incidents when Serb soldiers had often entered the zones of separation, M. Separovic answered that he had got assurances that such incidents would not repeat. He added that the civilian police of UNPROFOR would commence their regular control on 14 June. Upon this session UNPROFOR Major-General John MacInnis issued a statement that said, among other things: "Today we also distributed the rules and regulations pertaining to police activities within the zone of separation. I believe that these regulations, which were developed jointly by both parties and UNPROFOR, constitute an important prelude to a return to normal life in the zone of separation, they will be in effect as of 8 a.m. on June 1994." The statement was forwarded to Hina from the UNPROFOR Headquarters in Zagreb on Tuesday evening. 072058 MET jun 94
