ZADAR, May 2 (Hina) - A group of Croatian journalists from Zadar
visited the nearby village of Skabrnja under UNPROFOR escort on
Monday.
Under the March 29 cease-fire agreement, Skabrnja is part of
the so-called zone of disengagement.
Canadian UN peace-keepers patrol the village on a round-the-
clock basis.
Nearly all houses in Skabrnja have been looted and destroyed,
and gardens are overgrown. Its residents still cannot return for
security reasons, UN peace-keepers said.
Before Serb occupation, Skabrnja had had a population of
1,953. All of its residents except one were Croats.
Yugoslav army troops and Serb paramilitary forces killed 56
civilians and 14 defenders in an attack on 18 November 1991. All
the residents of Skabrnja are in exile.
