ZAGREB, April 6 (Hina) - Humanitarian aid for Gorazde last time was
delivered on March 22 and local warehouse of the U.N. High
Commissioner for Refugees have at disposal only one quarter of
necessary food, said at news conference on Wednesday UNHCR
spokesman in Zagreb Peter Kessler.
Situation with food is not yet alarming because local
inhabitants have their own house stocks, but situation is getting
worse with drugs and medical equipment. Because of that
representatives of the International Red Cross are using now their
emergency supplies, warned Kessler.
Air drops for Gorazde were suspended last month when road
convoys reached this Muslim enclave in eastern Bosnia, but that was
before latest Serb attacks on the town, said UNHCR spokesman.
About 1,000 of refugees from surrounding villages,
particularly those south of Gorazde, are accommodated in the town
and UNHCR estimates that another 1,500 of them arrived near the
city.
