SAVUDRIJA, Feb 17 (Hina) - For the third day now 600 refugees are
refusing food due to as they said, weak food quality.
The motive of their dissatisfaction is the decision by the
Governmental Office for Displaced and Refugees which ordered a
switch in companies providing cooking for the residents of the
Savudrija refugee camp. Yet, the refugees opposed the change as
they considered the previous firm's cooking better.
Head of Istrian Regional Office for Refugees, Sonja Lovrecic,
agreed with UNHCR that they would secure better food. According to
Lovrecic, it is not known whether the reason for the refugees'
refusal of food was the protest itself or Ramadan, when Muslims are
fasting.
