ZAGREB, Feb 15 (Hina) - The Russian president's special envoy to
former Yugoslavia, Vitaly Churkin, told reporters Tuesday he was
encouraged by the results of his visit to the Bosnian capital of
Sarajevo.
"I have a feeling that the parties begin to think more and
more of peace than of continuing the hostilities," said Churkin at
a news briefing at the Russian embassy in Zagreb.
During today's visit to Sarajevo, Churkin met with Bosnian
President Alija Izetbegovic and Prime Minister Haris Silajdzic. He
also held talks with Bosnian Serb military commander Ratko Mladic
at the Lukavica barracks.
"We attach great importance to meetings, contacts and
procedures which are being worked out in Sarajevo by UNPROFOR and
the Serb and Moslem sides in order to demilitarize the city and its
surroundings," Churkin said.
