ZAGREB, Jan 17 (Hina) - The UNPROFOR office in Zagreb on Monday
could not confirm allegations about possible replacement of the UN
Force Commander in former Yugoslavia, General Jean Cot.
"We know nothing about it," spokesman for the French general
Brigadier Jean Marcotte told Hina by telephone.
This morning France press news agency quoted "authorized
sources in Paris" as saying that General Cot was expected to be
replaced in weeks to come.
Brigadier Marcott said General Cot was in France for family
reasons and that he would return to Zagreb tomorrow.
Last week UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros Ghali
criticized General Cot, saying that his statements went beyond his
mandate.
