ZAGREB, Jan 6 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign and Deputy Prime Minister
Mate Granic received today the newly appointed special envoy for
the former Yugoslavia of the UN Secretary General, Yasushi Akashi,
said the Croatian Foreign Ministry.
Minister Granic informed the guest about the course and results of
yesterday's talks held in Vienna with Bosnian Prime Minister Haris
Silajdzic. He especially stressed the importance of immediate
settlement of the conflict between Moslems and Croats in Central
Bosnia. Presidents Franjo Tudjman and Alija Izetbegovic are
expected to discuss that issue in Bonn on Saturday.
Informing the guest about the situation in the occupied parts of
Croatia, Minister Granic said that Croatia is determined to find a
resolution of that problem by peaceful way and negotiations in
conformity with UN Security Council relevant resolutions, but he
added that Serbia and Slobodan Milosevic are responsible for the
current situation in UNPAs and the local Serb authorities' views on
negotiations and peaceful resolution of all the problems.
UNPROFOR Chief Co-ordinator Yasushi Akashi said that he will do
everything he can in order to implement all UN Security Council
relevant resolutions and that he expects close co-operation and
support of Croatian authorities in achieving peace and stability in
the former Yugoslavia.
