SPLIT, May 31 (Hina) - The Split County Court today began a trial
in absentia of Boban Bjelobrk, charged with a war crime against
prisoners of war.
Bjelobrk, 57, of Knin, joined Serb paramilitary forces on
November 12, 1991.
Following the Serb occupation of Potravlje, a village in
southern Croatia, the defendant tied up ten Croatian soldiers who
were taken prisoner and took them to a nearby stable where he
tortured them.
Bjelobrk shot dead a Croatian soldier, Petar Hrgovic, and
transported him in an unknwown direction. The body was later found
in Svilaja.
