ZAGREB, May 24 (Hina) The Croatian President's chief-of-staff, and
the head of the Croatian commission for relations with UNCRO,
Hrvoje Sarinic, sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General's special
envoy, Yasushi Akashi, the President's office said on Wednesday.
Sarinic asked Akashi to receive with his message the enclosed
letter of Banja Luka Bishop, Msgr. Franjo Komarica, which the
Bishop sent to Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on Monday
reporting in detail about the extremely difficult condition and
plight of Croats in the Banja Luka Diocese (Serb-held northwestern
Bosnia).
'We have directed the attention of the international
community to this pressing problem several times, but nothing has
been undertaken so far in this respect, to the disgrace to
everyone,' reads Sarinic's message to Akashi.
Sarinic requested Akashi to read Bishop Komarica's letter
and feel how profound dismay is of Croats who remain in the Banja
Luka area.
"We expect from UN peace forces to take resolute measures
this time in order to stop such terror and the ethnic cleansing of
Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina,' Sarinic's letter concludes.
