ZAGREB, May 23 (Hina) - In the continued discussion by the Croatian
Parliament House of Representatives on the report on the situation
in the pension system and disability insurance, on behalf of the
Croatian Farmers' Party (HSS) bench, deputy Josip Pankratic, said
the Government should be blamed for the current difficult condition
of retirees, particularly retired farmers.
Ivo Skrabalo (of the Croatian Social and Liberal Party, HSLS),
said the state owes on average 18 pensions to retirees, because by
decree on October 10, 1993 the Government rescinded the adaptation
of pensions with salaries. Skrabalo believed that this decree
violated the constitutional right of retirees.
On behalf of the Croatian National Party (HNS) Savka Dabcevic
Kucar remarked that the Government's report reads already known
figures instead of offering solutions.
