ZAGREB, May 21 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman received,
Dr. Otto von Habsburg, a European Parliament member and the
president of the International Pan-European Union, in the
presidential court this morning.
President Tudjman and Dr. Habsburg considered Croatia's
position in foreign affairs and its relations with the European
Union, according to a statement from the President's Office.
The two interlocutors agreed on the necessity that Croatia
reinforce its links with EU institutions.
In this respect Otto von Habsburg proposed that Croatia set up
a ministry for European issues, which should foster Croatian-
European cooperation and promote Croatian political and economic
interests within the European institutions.
At the end of the talks President Tudjman thanked Otto von
Habsburg for his support.
The talks were attended by the head of the Croatian Pan-
European Union, Mislav Jezic, the chief of the Croatian President's
Cabinet, Gordan Radin, and an aide to the Croatian President's
foreign affairs advisor, Anica Djamic, the statement said.
