U.N. FEARS REMAINING CROATS FACE EXPULSION FROM BANJA LUKA

SARAJEVO, May 19 (Hina) - UNHCR spokesman Kris Janowski today confirmed that a Catholic church in the village of Trn near Banja Luka, northwestern Bosnia, had been blown up two days ago. Janowski told reporters in Sarajevo that the incident caused great concern because the church was the third one to be destroyed in recent time. It was justified to fear that all Catholic churches in the area would see the same fate as mosques, Janowski said, adding that it was well known that there was not a single mosque in Banja Luka that was not damaged. The remaining Croats in Banja Luka were exposed to intimidation and feared for their lives and property. UNHCR officials had information of Serb authorities conducting some kind of poll among Croats, asking them to say whether they were ready to exchange their property in Banja Luka for the property of Croatian Serbs. The UNHCR feared that such moves were only an introduction to a new stage in the campaign aimed at driving out the remaining Croats from Banja Luka. (hina) mm rm vm 191505 MET may 95
