SECURITY COUNCIL TO VOTE ON RESOLUTION ON CROATIA

WASHINGTON, May 17 (Hina) - The UN Security Council should vote on a resolution on Croatia, demanding a completion of withdrawal of forces from the separation zones. The UN SC is expected to vote on the resolution on Wednesday afternoon, New York time. Approving of the steps done so far, the draft resolution says that the Security Council demands from the Croatian and rebel Serb sides to complete the withdrawal of all forces from separation zones and to refrain from further violations of these zones. The draft resolution also stresses the importance of a speedy establishment of UNCRO authorities in line with their mandate and demands that the status and mandate of UNCRO as well as the safety of UNCRO forces be respected. Full respect for human rights, including appropriate international supervision, especially in western Slavonia is a decisive step towards the restoration of confidence and building of permanent peace, according to the draft resolution.
