WASHINGTON, May 15 (Hina) - The UN Security Council accepted
suggestions of Security Council Secretary General Boutros Boutros-
Ghali on the composition of the three UN operations in Croatia,
Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia.
In his letter to the Security Council last Monday, Boutros-
Ghali suggested that the military contingents of UNCRO should at
this stage be composed of personnel from the following countries,
who were already deployed in Croatia: Argentina, Belgium, Canada,
the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Jordan, Lithuania, Nepal,
Poland and the Russian Federation.
In addition, Ukraine had been invited to provide one
helicopter squadron, Boutros-Ghali said.
He also proposed that the present composition of UNPROFOR in
Bosnia and UNPREDEP in Macedonia be maintained.
It would be desirable to maintain the United Nations military
observers, who would be deployed, as needed, throughout the three
zones of operation of UNCRO, UNPROFOR and UNPREDEP, Boutros-Ghali
said.
In his response to Ghali's letter, UN Security Council
President Jean-Bernard Merimee said that Council members had agreed
with the proposal contained in Ghali's letter.
According to Ghali's proposal, military contingents from Kenya
and Ukraine would be withdrawn from Croatia.
