ZAGREB, May 8 (Hina) - The Croatian Post has issued two new
commemorative stamps with themes "150th anniversary of the July
victims and 50th anniversary of the Bleiburg tragedy of the
Croatian people."
The first stamp is issued to mark Croatian people's rally at
St. Mark Square in Zagreb on July 29, 1845 when they protested
against Austrian and Hungarian manipulations in local elections in
Croatia at the time within the Austrian Monarchy. The Austrian army
opened fire at the rally, killing 13 and wounded 27 people.
The other stamp will mark the tragedy of Croatian civilians
and soldiers killed in the Blaiburgh field (Austria) by the then
Yugoslav Peoples Army and partisans six days after the official end
of WW II in Europe.
The stamps with the nominal values of 1.10 and 3.80 kunas, can
be bought since May 15.
