PAKRAC, May 7 (Hina) - The president of the Independent Serb
Party, Milorad Pupovac, today visited the hitherto occupied part
of the Pakrac area in western Slavonia.
"At the moment, it is most important for these people to
return to their homes to join their families, to ensure their
safety, to remove the consequences of combat activities, and to
ensure the withdrawal of the army. Civilian life should be
restored as soon as possible and then these people will be able
to decide what's best for them - to go to Bosnia or stay,"
Pupovac told reporters in Pakrac where he arrived in a UN
vehicle.
Pupovac said he had also met political figures "who still
enjoy confidence of the Serb people in the area." He would not
elaborate.
He said that he had talked with Pakrac police chief Nikola
Ivkanec and that "everybody is interested in solving all problems
as soon as possible."
