NEW YORK, March 30 (Hina) - Contact Group member states in the UN
Security Council and Italy today began consultations on a draft
resolution on a new UN mandate for Croatia and on the extension of
mandates for Bosnia-Herzegovina and Macedonia.
Some changes were expected to be made to the drafts at this
meeting, after which the Security Council would begin
consultations.
As part of a number of meetings with rerpesentatives of
Security Council member states, Croatian ambassador to the UN Mario
Nobilo met Security Council chairman Liem Zhaoxing of China and
representatives of the Non-Aligned countries to the Council.
Croatia demanded that the new UN mandate contain reference to
Croatia in its name and that it define border crossings control in
line with Security Council resolution 820.
Also disputable was the duration of the Croatia mandate,
according to UN diplomatic sources.
