WASHINGTON, March 26 (Hina) - The latest UN Security Council (UNSC)
draft resolution on the extension of the current UN forces' mandate
in Bosnia-Herzegovina proposes that the UN troops should stay in
Bosnia until September, 30, 1995. The draft resolution reads that
UN personnel surplus in Croatia should be transferred to Bosnia
until 30 June, 1995.
The headquarters of Bosnian operations would remain in
Croatia, according to the draft resolution.
The document welcomes the December 23 and 31, 1994 cease-fire
agreements between the warring sides in Bosnia, and calls on their
extension. In that period talks on the comprehensive peace solution
should continue.
The document also points out the importance of preserving
Sarajevo as an integrated city and as a multicultural, multiethnic
and multireligious centre, adding that the demilitarization of the
Bosnian capital would be important, too.
The role of UN Protection Force in preventing hostilities in
Bosnia is described as crucial.
The UNSC draft resolution on the current UN mandate in
Macedonia provides for its extension until September 30, 1995.
