ZAGREB, March 24 (Hina) - Croatian Minister of Defence, Gojko
Susak, met today in Zagreb a German parliamentary delegation, led
by Karl-Heinz Hornhues.
The German delegation doubted the ability of five or seven
thousand UN troops to do what 12 thousand UN Protection Force
members couldn't.
Minister Susak replied that Croatia never expected UNPROFOR to
wage a war with rebel Serbs on its behalf.
However the UN-maintained status quo was even less acceptable.
Susak recalled that not a single UN resolution dealing with
Croatian occupied areas had really been put to work.
But though the Croatian army was ready and able to return the
UN Protected Areas back to Croatian constitutional system, "we are
ready to wait for another six months in order to achieve a peaceful
reintegration."
German parliamentarians then asked about the joint command of
Bosnian Croats forces (HVO) and Bosnian Army, and the general
situation in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Susak said that Croatia had signed the Washington Accords and
was therefore interested in the success of the Federation project.
The joint command was "one of the moves aimed at that
purpose", Susak said.
He urged the German parliamentarians to continue putting
pressure on the "Federal Republic of Yugoslavia", in order to
achieve mutual recognition of the former Yugoslav republics and the
realization of UN resolutions.
