ZAGREB, March 24 (Hina) - Croatian Economy Minister Nadan
Vidosevic and his Slovene counterpart, Maks Tajnikar, met in
Zagreb yesterday and agreed on the starting points for
negotiations to finalize a bilateral agreement on the Krsko
nuclear power plant with a 50-50 capital investment ratio.
Vidosevic told reporters after the talks that the agreement
would also provide for cases in which Slovenia would have the
right of veto because the power plant was located on its
territory.
He added that the two countries came closer in their views
and that the new agreement would include issues of decommission,
operational time, employment and personnel policy, waste disposal
and investment.
Expert groups from both countries were expected to meet in
two weeks to find a satisfactory solution until the signing of
the agreement which wouild regulate overall relations regarding
the nuclear power plant.
Tajnikar said it was significant that the talks sought to
establish a new bilateral agreement which would define the
obligations of both sides.
Tajnikar identified the four issues on which Slovenia would
have the right of veto, as: plant organization, personnel policy,
security and operation, and closure.
