CROATIAN PRESIDENT MEETS INTERNATIONAL MEDIATOR - STATEMENT

ZAGREB, March 24 (Hina) - Croatian President Franjo Tudjman received in the Presidential Palace last night the co-chairman of the International Conference on the Former Yugoslavia in Geneva, Thorvald Stoltenberg, a Presidential Office statement said. The talks were also attended by the Presidential Chief of Staff, Hrvoje Sarinic, the President's special envoy and Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Miomir Zuzul, the President's adviser, Zeljko Matic, Ambassador to the Geneva conference Kai Eide, Mr Sarinic's assistant Vesna Skare Ozbolt, and Mr Stoltenberg's aide Bertie Ramcharan. They discussed a new UN force and the continuation of the peace process in Croatia. President Tudjman said Croatia would not give up its views on a new international mandate, which the President had presented in his speech in Copenhagen and in talks in Washington and New York. The President emphasized that Croatia supported the peaceful reintegration of its temporarily occupied areas, and welcomed further implementation of the 2 December 1994 agreement with Croatian Serbs, the statement concluded.
