RECONSTRUCTION MINISTER OPENS CONSTRUCTION OF MAIN SEWER

SPLIT, March 4 (Hina) - Reconstruction and Development Minister, Jure Radic, today opened the construction of a main sewer for the Split area. The main sewer is to collect over 80 percent of the effluents from Split, Trogir, Solin and Kasteli Bay sewage systems, which are currently being disgorged into the Split port. The new sewer will discharge sewage at sea. "The construction of the main sewer opens a whole reconstruction cycle in Split," Split Mayor, Nikola Grabic said, adding that this facility was of prime importance for the economic, ecological and social development of Split. Stressing that half the construction costs were financed by the Government, Radic said the Government paid great attention to environmental issues and to preserving the Adriatic.
