ZAGREB, March 1 (Hina) - The Defence and National Security Council
held a session at the Presidential Palace, the President's Office
said today in a statement.
The meeting dealt with the implementation of state policy, the
statement said.
"The Council is determined to stick to the decision to end the
UNPROFOR mandate from March 31. The mandate will not be extended.
As proof of its determination to achieve a peaceful solution and
the reintegration of the occupied areas, Croatia is willing to
accept the presence of international monitors on the
internationally recognised borders with Serbia and Bosnia. Croatia
will not accept a new UNPROFOR, or the deployment of any forces in
the disengagement zone in Croatia.
"The Council has advised the Government to table a motion in
Parliament for amendments to the Amnesty Act, suggesting an
extension of the deadline prescribed in the Act (Sept 25, 1992).
"The Council has called on the judiciary to wait, in line with
state policy, for the expected extension of the deadline, and not
institute legal proceedings in absentia.
"In view of the situation regarding the end of the UNPROFOR
mandate and the peace-keepers' departure, and the efforts for the
peaceful reintegration of temporarily occupied areas, all state
authorities are expected to consistently implement state policy,"
the statement concluded.
