ZAGREB, Jan 6 (Hina) - Croatian Parliament president Nedjeljko
Mihanovic told a press conference today that Croatia could agree to
extending UNPROFOR's mandate "if it helped change the indoctrinated
minds of rebel Serbs in Knin to accept the peace process."
If UNPROFOR's role was as inefficient as it had been during
the last three years, there was no point for them to stay, he
stressed.
Mihanovic added that rebel Serbs in UN protected areas had
trapped themselves in a ghetto corner.
He said the Croatian Parliament was most likely to convene by
January 20 to discuss the UN mandate.
Mihanovic also spoke of his recent visit to Brazil where he
had attended the inauguration of President Fernando Henrique
Cardos.
