ZAGREB, Jan 2 (Hina) - The commander of the UN peace-keeping force
in former Yugoslavia, Gen. Bertrand de Lapresle, today held talks
with Croatian Serb negotiator Borislav Mikelic at Zagreb's Pleso
airport.
UN spokesman Thant Myint-U told reporters in Zagreb that de
Lapresle insisted Croatian Serb forces stop their military
involvement in the Bihac pocket in western Bosnia and ensure the
freedom of movement for UN convoys through areas in Croatia under
their control.
Myint-U could not specify which results the talks produced.
De Lapresle and Mikelic left for the Serb stronghold of Knin
in UN Sector South to continue talks together with international
mediators David Owen and Thorvald Stoltenberg.
Myint-U said they would discuss the implementation of the
December 2 economic agreement between the Croatian government and
UNPA Serb authorities.
