SPLIT, Jan 4 (Hina) - Ship and ferry lines between the seaport of
Split and the Hvar and Vis islands were canceled for the second
time today because of freak storms.
A ferry which should have left Split at 02:30 p.m. Wednesday
for Vis, stayed at the port. The ferry services for Hvar, Brac and
Solta were also canceled.
Bus services from Split to northern Croatia were operating
with difficulty. The Zagreb-bound busses could only reach Zadar
because the Adriatic road was closed from Senj to Karlobag.
Along with stormy weather, a traffic accident at the Karlobag-
Gospic road also impeded traffic.
Buses carrying passengers from Germany and Switzerland which
were bound for southern Croatia were transferred to ferries in the
port of Rijeka and were expected to arrive in Split at about 08:00
p.m. Wednesday.
Regular bus lines from Split to Trieste were canceled until
January 9 because of bad weather.
