ZAGREB, Jan 5 (Hina) - A meeting of a miscellaneous committee for
the implementation of the Economic Agreement on reintegrating UNPAs
into Croatia, has begun in Split.
The meeting is being attended by representatives of Croatian
authorities and local Serbs, the ambassador to the International
Conference on the Former Yugoslavia, Kai Eide and the chief of
UNPROFOR's civil affairs unit, Michael Moussalli, UNPROFOR
spokesman, Paul Risley, told a press conference in Zagreb today.
The aim of the meeting is to speed up the implementation of
the agreement, Risley said.
Risley said that from tomorrow at 6pm, the part of the Zagreb-
Lipovac highway which runs through occupied Croatian territory,
would be open to traffic 24 hours a day.
Meanwhile Croatian Serbs in UNPA south carried out fresh
attacks on UN Canadian soldiers yesterday.
"It appears that the UNPROFOR Canadian battalion observation
post was fired at from Serb positions," Risley said.
"One soldier was slightly wounded and the situation in the
area is still tense from the incident on New Year's Eve when two
Canadian soldiers were injured," he said.
An investigation was still underway.
Risley said UNPROFOR was also continuing with an investigation
into the oil spill from a UN tank at the Kenyan battalion base in
UNPA south.
