In case nothing is done concerning the implementation of the
Constitution and law in Zagreb, the City Assembly will demand from
the government to dissolve the Assembly and call elections within
60 days.
The Assembly also demanded from the Government to 'immediately
propose to Parliament to change the Law on Local Self-Government
and Administration and the Law on the City of Zagreb so that the
majority of deputies in the Assembly could elect a mayor without
any restrictions'.
Explaining this decision, Zagreb City Assembly President
Zdravko Tomac said that the Assembly was being prevented from
electing the city leadership and adopting the city budget for 1997.
The session also adopted a conclusion demanding from the
Committee for Telecommunications to immediately grant a broadcast
concession to 'Radio 101' d.o.o.
HDZ councilors did not take part in the vote on this question.
