ZAGREB, Nov 30 (Hina) - The Central Strike Committee of the
Croatian Railway Workers' Unions on Saturday issued a
statement saying that the strike was still under way. #L#
The Committee recalled that it had reached a decision on
Friday under which trains had to start running from Saturday
at 00.01 hours, which was in compliance to the directions of
the Croatian Railways (HZ) Administration General Director,
Marijan Klaric.
The Central Committee said in the statement that in an
answer to the Committee's acceptance to operate trains as
directed by Klaric, the "HZ exerted increased pressure on
striking railway workers".
The Committee stressed that as of Saturday morning,
railway workers were being pressured into making written
statements about whether they were participating in the strike
and why, while being threatened with dismissals if they
answered positively.
The managers of train stations and HZ units had been
directed to draw up special lists of workers who were
participating in the strike, the statement said.
The Committee also stated that the "HZ Administration is
not anxious to solve the problem and end the strike".
