ZAGREB, Nov 30 (Hina) - Some domestic train services resumed on
Saturday morning as Croatian railway workers continued striking
for a third day.
As of midnight, express trains resumed service between
Zagreb and the southern Adriatic city of Split and between Zagreb
and the eastern town of Vinkovci, the Croatian Railways (HZ)
chief train dispatcher said.
Traffic was partially restored following Friday night's
announcement by the Railway Workers' Union that it would comply
with a November 27 order by the HZ management, he said, adding
that some local trains had also begun operating.
Goran Kovacic of the strikers' committee confirmed that
domestic services were intensified as of midnight. He said that
about 11,000 workers were on strike.
International passenger and cargo trains, trains serving the
Croatian army and local trains running in border areas were not
suspended during the strike.
