CAVTAT, Nov 27 (Hina) - The history of Konavle in the 19th and 20th centuries has to be investigated systematically because of territorial pretensions of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to the area. To that effect, it was necessary
to revise the works of Serb historians and so do away with the false dilemma concerning the territorial location of Konavle, which was Croatian territory, concluded participants of a three-day congress entitled "Konavle in the Past, Present and Future" which ended in Cavtat on Wednesday.
CAVTAT, Nov 27 (Hina) - The history of Konavle in the 19th and 20th
centuries has to be investigated systematically because of
territorial pretensions of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia to
the area. To that effect, it was necessary to revise the works of
Serb historians and so do away with the false dilemma concerning
the territorial location of Konavle, which was Croatian territory,
concluded participants of a three-day congress entitled "Konavle in
the Past, Present and Future" which ended in Cavtat on Wednesday.

The congress was organized by the Dubrovnik Institute for
Historical Studies of the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences,
the Zagreb University, the Konavle municipality and the Croatian
Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO.
Fifty-eight Croatian scientists and experts participated in
the congress. They read 55 papers during seven sessions.
Proceedings are to be published in 1997.
The last day of the congress focused on Konavle today, and
views about the future business and tourism strategies in Konavle.
