Luzavec is taking part in a Conference of Transport Ministers
of the Central European Initiative and the Black Sea Economic
Cooperation member countries.
The central theme of the conference is the development of
transport in the region with a more effective exploitation of the
existing infrastructure, by facilitating procedures at borders and
conforming transport regulations.
Luzavec spoke about ways of connecting European countries with
the Adriatic.
The shortest ground route from central European countries to
the Adriatic was the route Budapest-Zagreb-Rijeka (north Adriatic
port), Luzavec said.
The north of Europe is connected to the central Adriatic port
of Ploce via Hungary, the eastern Croatian towns of Osijek and
Slavonski Brod and partly through Bosnia-Herzegovina, Luzavec said.
He stressed the importance of two traffic corridors running in
the direction north-west - south-east along the river Sava and
along the Adriatic sea.
At the meeting in Sofia, participants are to discuss
preparations for the European Transport Ministers Conference which
is to take place in Helsinki next year.
Present at the conference in Sofia are representatives of the
European Union, United States, European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development (EBRD), European Investment Bank and World Bank.
Luzavec also held talks with president of the Bulgarian Post
and Telecommunications Committee, Ljubomir Kolarov. They agreed to
sign a bilateral agreement on telecommunications during Kolarov's
visit to Croatia.
