ZAGREB, Nov 18 (Hina) - Head of the "Appeal" Association, the centre for the protection of human rights of missing and detained Croatian citizens, Zdenka Farkas, on Monday forwarded letters to the UN Transitional Administrator, General Jacques Klein, and Pope John Paul II, asking for their mediation in finding out the truth about the whereabouts of detained and abducted Croatian citizens.
ZAGREB, Nov 18 (Hina) - Head of the "Appeal" Association, the centre for the protection of human rights of missing and detained Croatian citizens, Zdenka Farkas, on Monday forwarded letters to the UN Transitional Administrator, General Jacques Klein, and Pope John Paul II, asking for their mediation in finding out the truth about the whereabouts of detained and abducted Croatian citizens. #L# In the letter to Klein, "Appeal" said that one hundred families who were still in exile and did not know the whereabouts of their loved ones, would leave for Rome on Monday evening, to again bear witness to the genocide committed against the Croatian people. Farkas stressed that Klein's support to families from Vukovar in the identifications of their loved ones exhumed from mass graves and in the search for details about missing family members had so far been insufficient. In their letter to Pope John Paul II. "Appeal" stressed that "the whereabouts of 1,480 detained persons from Vukovar are not known to this day". (hina) lm mm 182029 MET nov 96
