Croatia's Premier Zlatko Matesa and Foreign Minister Mate
Granic, who are heading the Croatian delegation at the conference,
on Friday met with the Slovak Premier Vladimir Meciar, Poland's
Premier Wlodzimierz Cimoszewicz and Bosnia's Premier and Foreign
Minister Hasan Muratovic and Jadranko Prlic respectively.
Premier Matesa announced that Croatia would soon sign several
arrangements with Central-European countries. 'Croatia sees its
future in the exchange of commodities, people, services and capital
with Central-European countries', Matesa said.
'We are talking about our entry into the Central European Free
Trade Association (CEFTA), development of bilateral economic
relations, road construction and all other issues which would place
us into the area we belong to', he added.
Foreign Minister Granic estimated that within Central-European
framework Croatia had full support for its policy concerning
European and Euro-Atlantic integration processes as well as the
support for a speedy completion of the peaceful reintegration of
the Croatian Danubian area.
Speaking about the regional approach of the European Union,
Granic expressed belief that Croatia would give a very clear answer
to that proposal. 'Croatia is a Central-European country and it
wants to cooperate with all countries in its neighborhood on the
basis of interests, but it is also oriented towards Euro-Atlantic
integration processes and Central Europe', Granic said.
