CROATIA'S PARLIAMENTARIANS CONTINUE TOUR IN CHINA

SHENZHEN, Nov 2 (Hina) - During a several-day long tour to China, a delegation of Croatia's Parliament, led by the Speaker Vlatko Pavletic, on Saturday arrived in Shenzhen. Being the first Chinese special economic zone established in 1980, Shenzhen has become an economic miracle thanks to foreign investment worth over one billion and seven million US dollars. An average annual rate of industrial production is 57 per cent. During the 16 years the poor border town populated with 30,000 citizens turned a city with 3.5 million inhabitants. Last year Shenzhen excelled Shanghai in export worth US$ 20 billion. The Shenzhen people's congress speaker, Li Guangzhen, informed the Croatian parliamentary delegation about progress in economy. He expressed interest in developing ties with Croatia Croatia's Pavletic pledged that he would do his best that his country could be more informed of the experience of that Chinese special economic zone. The Croatian delegation visited a standing exhibition of the zone's products, at which the Croatian drugs company 'Pliva' was showing its 'Sumamed' antibiotic.
