SARAJEVO, Oct 29 (Hina) - International police and OSCE
representatives in Bosnia-Herzegovina on Tuesday condemned Sunday's
apprehension of a Croat police officer from Kresevo (30 kilometres
west of Sarajevo) by the Moslem police. #L#
International police spokesman Patrick Swenson stressed that
this was yet another questionable apprehension.
The Croat police officer was stopped by two Moslem police
officers who apprehended him with an explanation that he was
suspected of war crimes and drug trade.
International police representatives who visited the Croat
police officer in the Central jail in Sarajevo, were informed that
only the charge of war crimes stayed in effect.
OSCE representative David Foley said that the arrest was a
clear violation of the Rome agreement on the freedom of movement
signed this February.
The agreement envisages that no person would be apprehended
under charges of war crimes unless the International Crimes
Tribunal in The Hague issued an indictment against the person.
Foley added that the OSCE mission had asked for the release of
the Croat police officer as well of a Serb who had been arrested by
the Moslem police under the same charges in Sanski Most (western
Bosnia) last week.
