The ship's cargo, intended for the Bosnian Federation army as
part of the "Equip and Train" programme, consisted of several
dozens of tanks, armoured personnel carriers, small arms and
ammunition and other equipment weighing some 8,000 tons.
The shipment was to be unloaded in the Ploce harbour, but the
ship suddenly left the port and cast anchor near Gradac, some 10
kilometres north-west of Ploce.
The ship's commander William Barrere requested of the Ploce
port authority for permission to set sail. At 10.00 hours on
Saturday, the American Condor left Croatian waters, a statement
from the Ploce harbour master's office said.
