ZAGREB, 27 Sept (Hina) - The Serb National Party (SNS) opposed today's adoption of a Parliament Resolution on the mandate of the UN Transitional Administration in Eastern Slavonia (UNTAES). According to the Resolution, the UNTAES
mandate should expire on 15 January 1997, and elections for the bodies of local authority should be organized by 15 December, 1996. 'The presence of UNTAES in the area is necessary for the implementation of laws Croatia was asked to adopt so that it could meet demands of the international community', SNS President Milan Djukic told a press conference on Friday.

Those acts were the Act on the Confirmation of the
Normalization Agreement between Croatia and Yugoslavia, General
Amnesty Act and a bill on education in minority languages, Djukic
said.
'Conditions for the exercise of full freedoms of both the Serb
and Croat citizens in eastern Slavonia have still not been
created', Djukic stressed.
