ZAGREB, Sept 22 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic
left for New York on Sunday to attend the 51st session of the UN
General Assembly.
Granic is scheduled to address the General Assembly on
Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
During his visit Granic will meet about 30 heads of
diplomacy, mostly from Euruopean and EU countries, to discuss
Croatia's admission to Euro-Atlantic security and economic
integrations, particularly the final stage of its accession to
the Council of Europe,
Also discussed will be the situation in the region in the
light of the normalization of relations between Croatia and
Yugoslavia and the September 14 election in Bosnia-Herzegovina as
well as the further implementation of the US-sponsored Dayton
peace agreement.
Granic and foreign ministers of UN Security Council member
states will discuss the holding of local elections in the UN-
administered area of eastern Croatia and the termination of the
UNTAES mandate.
Granic is scheduled to open new offices of the Croatian
mission to the UN and address the Croatian American Business
Council, the statement concluded.
