Bozic stressed that IFOR's setting up checkpoints on the roads
around Mostar was a violation of the Dayton Agreement and IFOR's
mandate.
"Under the Dayton Agreement, and IFOR's mandate, IFOR is not
authorized to perform police duties except to provide protection
for members of the IPTF who perform police tasks with the
cooperation of the local police," Bozic said.
By such actions, IFOR was beginning to deny IPTF's mandate
which was the only one in charge of police duties on behalf of the
international community, Bozic said.
He expressed hope that Fitzgerald would exert pressure on IFOR
main headquarters in order to return IFOR's mandate within the
framework of its mandate.
